Wyoming-based Trainers 

Mary Lannan Barbula

Mary has been working in schools for over fifteen years, first as a special education teacher ( 5 years) and presently a guidance counselor at Sheridan Junior High School, where she has set up an effective, school-wide anti-bullying program. Her training in circle keeping, restorative justice, and bullying prevention demonstrates her passionate commitment to teaching tolerance and peacemaking. Cissy Dillon

Cissy has taught at the Wyoming Girls School for over 25 years where she incorporated bullying prevention into an ongoing effort to create a safe and comfortable environment for the students.  In 2005, Cissy participated in a Bullying Prevention train-the-trainer workshop conducted by national experts Chuck Saufler and Ansley Newton (see below).  She shared this training with the staff at Wyoming Girls School and was recently a  presenter at the Wyoming Elementary School Principals conference.   In addition to Bullying prevention, Cissy has training in mediation, community leadership and facilitating workshops for businesses and companies.  Contact Cissy at cissyd@fiberpipe.net 

 

National Trainers

Chuck Saufler

Chuck is a school guidance counselor and the lead trainer in bullying education at the Maine Law and Civics Education Program at the University of Maine Law School.  He is a nationally certified trainer for the Olweus bullying prevention program and a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Safe Schools and Communities.  In 2005-2006, he devoted his time and expertise to help set up a bullying prevention program in Sheridan County Schools and continues to provide training to schools throughout the United States.  Contact Chuck at chuck@stopbullyingmaine.com 

Ansley Newton

Ansley has worked for almost 30 years as an educator. She has been a pre-school project director, an elementary-school teacher, an elementary-school guidance counselor, a middle-school counselor, a high-school guidance counselor and a substance-abuse counselor in a high school.  She has a background in Mediation and Conflict Resolution and started the first peer-mediation program in an elementary school in Maine.  She is also a trainer in suicide prevention, developmental assets, adventure-based curriculum, and bullying prevention education. Ansley heads the Regional Children's Cabinet, a group of representatives from all state agencies that work together to better address the needs of all Maine's children.  She currently works for the Deptartment of Education in Maine as a consultant who trains groups of educators in schools to form Student Assistance Teams to address the needs of  kids, youth and families.
