According to the Maine Bullying Prevention Education Program, the

"School Climate is the framework of the Bullying Prevention Program.  It is essential to create a school environment that is characterized by warmth, respect, and involvement from adults, but defines firm limits for unacceptable behavior."

The following resources can help educators establish a climate in their schools that promotes respectful behavior among students and enables victims of bullying to report incidents safely.

 The Telling Environment

"A telling environment is one in which any child who is bullied by another child or adult or who sees another child being bullied, is urged to report the incident to designated personnel."

Helping or Tattling

"Teachers have always struggled with children “tattling” on other children. Sometimes students have been scolded for reporting things to teachers as “tattletales”.
